Loading... Please wait...Frances Mainwaring takes us on a journey through the year that her younger daughter Angie prepares to be married. All Fran wants is to see her elder daughter Sophie more often, a wedding for Angie that doesn’t cost the earth, a renewed freshness to her own marriage, a lick of paint on the old house and time to make plans with Phillip for their empty-nest years.
Is this too much to ask?
We live Fran’s suburban life through her family politics, her money worries, her work hassles with the Boss From Hell, her hobbies, her changing marriage and of course, The Renovation.
A light-hearted everywoman story, Mother of the Bride will make you laugh and make you cry, and ponder some of the big questions in life.
You can renovate a house – but can you renovate a marriage?

You are actually rather naughty writing such a book. Instead of working last week I picked it up and started reading it and of course I couldn’t put it down. Better than Rosalie Ham’s book which I finished last week too prior to reading the Mother of the Bride. I must say I always knew Rima was the love interest in the book but you built the tension very nicely.

After dinner last night, I put on my PJs and went to the bedroom to start reading your book. I'm not sure at what stage I fell
asleep but I did wake up at 11:30 when hubby came to bed.So, I sat up then until after 2 am to finish the book. I found it very
engaging and entertaining. I kept wanting to call out, "Look out Frances, he's behind you!" (as in a children's pantomime).
I'm sure the story will resonate with many people, having either experienced, or witnessed a friend go through, a similar experience of ...(is it a betrayal?) when busily engaged in a life they thought they were sharing. I'm also sure there are many women in our age group who wonder at the seemingly retrograde step of 'corrective underwear' and wonder if it is a misogynist plot.

Started the book on Saturday ...finished the book on Sunday (what a great way to spend a rainy day)...thoroughly enjoyed it.
