Why Does My Work need an Edit?
An editor brings to the work a different set of skills to those of you, the author. They are trained to see the work differently. They know how to check for continuity, name changes, spelling, punctuation and grammar. These are things that are hard to see once you are immersed in the work as its writer. Editors also know that a paragraph would work better if it is moved to a different place in the text. Sometimes whole pages or sections of text might get moved around. These suggestions ALWAYS make the work better.
An editor’s work improves your project without changing its original intention, voice or narrative structure. Your work will be much more professional once you have worked with a professional editor. ALL large publishing firms insist that ALL writing is professionally edited prior to publication. They do this work in-house and with free-lance editors. Because we are a small firm, we out-source this work, but only to free-lance professionals whose work we trust.
Without editing, your writing will not read as well, look as good, or sell as well. To maintain our quality control process we hold the firm belief that any work we take should be professionally edited before we will publish it. This protects your reputation as the author and our reputation as the writer.
